Celebrating the Completion of Boston’s Largest Permanent Supportive Housing Project

Enjoy sober living in a prime location just steps away from local restaurants, stores, and employment opportunities for men in recovery. At Tharros House, we take a custom approach to each client, starting with a full understanding of each client’s needs and goals. Our team connects with each client’s clinical providers to help understand what supports are needed before he arrives at Tharros. Moving into a sober home has the benefit of helping you create a solid support system with friends who are going through the same or similar things that you are. These friendships can help you not just during your time residing at the sober living house, but can help you in many ways down the road and throughout the rest of your life. A good time to move into a sober living home is after you have completed an inpatient rehab program and are ready to begin acclimating back into society.

Supportive Of Each Other

MassHousing (The Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency) is an independent, quasi-public agency created in 1966 and charged with providing financing for affordable housing in Massachusetts. The Agency raises capital by selling bonds and lends the proceeds to low- and moderate-income homebuyers and homeowners, and to developers who build or preserve affordable and/or mixed-income rental housing. MassHousing does not use taxpayer dollars to sustain its operations, although it administers some publicly funded programs on behalf of the Commonwealth. Since its inception, MassHousing has provided more than $29 billion for affordable housing. Recovered Souls Foundation, Quincy, $30,000 Grant funding will support access to the Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC) Assistant Counselor Licensing Requirement Program.

Sober homes can give someone a type of in-between recovery option that gives them the opportunity to practice the lessons they learned in rehab and the support of a sober community before jumping right back into their lives. For some people in recovery, a sober living home can make the difference between staying sober and relapsing back into their addiction. Tharros House, located steps away from the center of Lexington, spans 4 levels with almost 8000 square feet of living space. All client guest rooms at Tharros are equipped with queen sized Serta Presidential Euro-top premium mattresses and high thread count linens.

Sober living homes are good transitional residences for those who feel almost ready to go back into their normal lives—but want to have extra support and learn additional coping strategies beforehand. Although sober living houses tend to be less restrictive than inpatient facilities are, these homes still do have rules that residents are required to abide by. Residents living in a sober living home are not required to stay there at all times; rather, they have the ability to come and go as they please. Having this freedom gives individuals in recovery the chance to ease back into their normal life and begin resuming their daily responsibilities and tasks. Teras is located two miles away from Tharros (both Tharros and Teras are in Lexington MA).

  • The biggest requirement should be that all residents are alcohol and drug-free in order to promote a positive environment for addiction recovery.
  • At Teras, our experienced team, plus ancillary providers, provide a high level of support for clients to take action in a recovery fellowship, and engage outside structure.
  • Brighton/Boston, Massachusetts is home to unparalleled recovery services, especially for men.
  • The program is designed to provide male residents 18 and over with a comfortable, safe and structured environment.

This less structured residence is designed to support clients when they have 25+ hours of work or other outside structure weekly, which can be developed with assistance from our team, in the first 30 days. The purpose of a sober house is generally to allow people to begin the process of reintegration with society, while still providing monitoring and support; this is generally believed to reduce the risk of relapse when compared to a release directly into society. Sober Surroundings is a sober community dedicated to providing affordable sober living.

Boston sober living tends to be very expensive, and our goal is to offer the same service as an exclusive sober living community at an affordable price. Chelsea’s House, established in 2011, is a community of people who are transitioning from treatment into living life clean in the real world. We promote a family-based experience to share life’s highs and lows together and be supportive of residents needs. At Tharros House, the team takes the time to connect with local Boston-area professionals and providers that can help our residents in many areas. We can help with referrals to clinical therapy, couples and family counseling, addiction classes, therapy groups, nutrition and wellness services, life coaching, stress management, exercise and physical training. Having such a great support system gives residents the opportunity to avoid the isolation that can sometimes occur during the process of returning to their former homes while in recovery.

BOSTON (AP) — Tommy McCarthy’s Irish bar just outside Boston’s city limits pours more Guinness than almost anywhere in the U.S., yet come this St. Patrick’s Day, the longtime owner of The Burren is stocking up on plenty of nonalcoholic options too. If you have many outside commitments, or are ready to return to work, Teras can be a good entry point directly from treatment. For others, after 1-6 months at Tharros, clients may choose to transition to Teras. Nonalcoholic drinks are popular on St. Patrick’s Day weekend during The Burren’s four days of Irish music shows, which can last 10 hours each. McCarthy said he’s a Guinness drinker but sticks to the nonalcoholic brew when playing the fiddle. It is promoted absolutely everywhere,” said Jackie Taylor who has been sober for 12 years.

Sober Living House In Boston Massachusetts

When he first proposed the idea of a sober event on such a booze-heavy day, he was met with incredulity and doubt over public interest. Now he’s in talks with Boston’s local leaders and believes there’s finally enough interest and support to branch out next year. Yet while the holiday has become connected to heavy drinking over the centuries, a small but growing crowd has found ways to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day parades, festivals and banquets without a buzz. They’re doing so by turning to nonalcoholic beers, mocktails and solely sober spaces — even in the heart of Boston.
